Abt Associates proposes to implement the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) FY2023 Statistical Support Program (SSP) Supplement. The purpose is to conduct work designed to fill gaps in current BJS collections, restore or modernize collections, and allow the agency the flexibility to address emerging criminal justice issues. Project activities include the completion of four SSP tasks that are in progress (maternal health feasibility study, correctional officers’ stressor and suicides study, civil cases feasibility study, and crime dashboard supplemental development); the initiation and completion of three new tasks (human trafficking prevalence estimation, corporate crime database feasibility study, offense classification system); and two proposed tasks that serve the purpose of providing ongoing webtool support and addressing ad hoc requests. Expected outcomes include the development of visual materials for a dashboard, mixed methods findings to support the collection of maternal health data, correctional officer stressors data, and civil case data from their respective sources, recommendations for a human trafficking study, recommendations for a corporate crime database, and an updated BJS offense classification system. Additional tasks may be initiated and completed through this cooperative agreement.
