Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $76,895)
The Delaware State Police, State Bureau of Identification, will use funds to ensure that mental health records contained in the State of Delaware’s NICS G4 database are complete and accurate. The Delaware Criminal Justice Information System (DELJIS) is responsible for the development and maintenance of the State’s criminal justice information system, including ensuring the completeness and accuracy of records contained within the system. Recently, DELJIS observed a number of NICS records missing key components to make the record complete. Many of the names in the local database; missing sex, race and/or social security numbers. Funds will be used to modify the base record to reflect the official name and identifying information, such as sex, race, and social security numbers. DELJIS will correct and pack the records to reflect current and complete information. DELJIS will also update missing and incomplete disposition records and immediately create the corrected record. This process is to be performed by a limited set of users trained in record validation and correction.
