FY 2023 NICS Act Record Improvement Program

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) will use funds to expand Alabama’s new CCH system to add the functionality of a message broker framework to be used in the exchange of data to the CCH as well as to the requisite federal systems necessary to provide information utilized for NICS. ALEA also will use funds to implement a CJIS Security Policy-compliant secure network infrastructure to connect all law enforcement and criminal justice agencies that contribute to and utilize criminal history record information. These efforts will greatly improve Alabama’s contribution to national NICS checks and the reliability of the information being provided. The current CCH System and CJIS Network are extremely outdated and in need of modernization.
