Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $2,478,850)
Under this award, the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet requests funds to improve access and reporting of adult and juvenile dispositions and mental health submissions to NICS. The KJPSC proposes to grant three subawards within the Cabinet to: the Kentucky State Police, the Department of Corrections, and the Department of Juvenile Justice. Funds allocated to the Kentucky State Police will be used for a Firearms Application Rewrite, including base supporting components, IFFS Module rewrites, Mental Health Module rewrites, and a CCD Module/Registration Website rewrite. Funds allocated to the Kentucky Department of Corrections will fund the purchasing of a Court Case Sentencing Module. Funds allocated to the Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice will be used to purchase three Module Sets: DJJ Module Set 1 (Essential Functions), DJJ Module Set 2 (Electronic Health Records) and DJJ Module Set 3 (Analytical and Management Tools). These efforts will result in improved record management within the Commonwealth of Kentucky and increased submission of record data to federal databases, where permissible by state law.
