In this video, BJS Statistician Emilie Coen, DrPH, covers the NCVS instruments and their role in the interview process. She includes descriptions of the NCVS Control Card, basic screen questionnaire, and the crime incident report. She also provides a brief overview of the content of the instruments and additional resources on the instruments.

This webinar provided an overview of methods for calculating variance of estimates from complex sample designs, including direct and indirect methods. It focused on two methods for calculating direct variance estimates: Taylor series linearization (TSL) and balanced repeated replication (BRR). The panel used SAS and SPSS to demonstrate the methods with examples using data from the National Crime Victimization Survey.
