This report presents statistics on rapes that occurred in Arkansas in 1994 using data from the State Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program and a special supplement that allows the collection of additional information on each rape and attempted rape.
Abstract

This report uses the UCR definition of rape, which covers the forcible carnal knowledge of a female victim against her will; assaults to commit forcible rape are also included but statutory rape without force is not. In 1994, there were 1,026 reported rapes and attempted rapes in Arkansas; while the figures are comparable to those in 1993, they represent an 11 percent increase from 1989 and a 48 percent increase from 1982. Statistics are presented for rape by time of day, by day of week, and by month; victim characteristics; weapons used; victim-offender race relationship; location; involvement of family members; reporting time lapses, suspect information; and medical attention for victims.
