Prosecution statistics cover suspects in criminal matters concluded by U.S. attorneys, including suspects in criminal matters concluded, suspects in U.S. district court, U.S. attorneys who declined to prosecute, and suspects referred to U.S. magistrates. Adjudication statistics reflecting defendants in cases terminated in U.S. district court show convictions and case dismissals. Adjudication statistics also reflect the number and percent of defendants convicted in matters disposed by U.S. magistrates. Sentencing statistics include offenders convicted in cases terminated in U.S. district court, specifically the number and percent sentenced to prison and the mean length of prison sentences. Corrections statistics for prisoners released from Federal prison indicate the average time served until first release from sentence imposed by U.S. district court.
