Violation of Probation Records: Assessing the Impact on State Criminal History Timeliness and Completeness

The State Justice Statistics (SJS) Program is designed to maintain and enhance each state's capacity to address criminal justice issues through collection and analysis of data. The SJS Program provides support to each state to coordinate and conduct statistical activities within the state, conduct research to estimate impacts of legislative and policy changes, and serve as a liaison in assisting BJS to gather data from respondent agencies within their states.

Under this award, the Florida Statistical Analysis Center (FSAC) will utilize SJS funds to examine Florida's criminal history records as they relate to the capturing of arrests for Violations of Probation (VOP) to assist the Florida Repository in achieving its data quality mission. The analysis will focus on the evaluation and analysis of the VOP records and the impact on the timeliness of case processing and the completeness of disposition reporting. A report describing the results of the evaluation and analysis of the VOP process will be produced for policy makers and the criminal justice community to provide feedback on the status of the Criminal History Records Repository in Florida.
