The State Justice Statistics (SJS) Program is designed to maintain and enhance each state's capacity to address criminal justice issues through collection and analysis of data. The SJS Program provides support to each state to coordinate and conduct statistical activities within the state, conduct research to estimate impacts of legislative and policy changes, and serve as a liaison in assisting BJS to gather data from respondent agencies within their states.
Under this award, the North Carolina Statistical Analysis Center (SAC) intends to: (1) conduct an evaluation of the state's inmate release data to examine where the inmates will be residing upon release to inform the Commission's Criminal Justice Improvement Committee in making future funding decisions for re-entry and transitional housing programs; (2) continue updating and expanding the SAC website; (3) conduct a comprehensive analysis of the Statewide Automated Victim Notification (SAVAN) system to make improvements to the system; and (4) attend and participate in the BJS/JRSA National Conference.
