Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $84,754)

The Tribal Criminal History Record Improvement (T-CHRIP) Program provides support to Federally-recognized tribes and State criminal records repositories to promote participation in and improve data sharing between tribal, State, and national criminal records systems.

Under this award, the Hopi Tribe of northeastern Arizona will link their case management system with an intra and inter-tribal state and federal automated fingerprint record system to electronically share local crime data with state and federal systems. The Tribe will purchase and install livescan equipment, digitize court documents, and attend AFIS training. The installation of a Livescan/AFIS workstation will provide more efficient, accurate, and complete background checks for criminal and non-criminal justice purposes.
