Uniform Crime Reporting Program Data Series for 2024 at NACJD
BJS released 16 datasets from the 2024 Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program through the National Archive of Criminal Justice Data (NACJD). Collected by the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services Division, UCR data represent some of the nation’s leading sources of information on crime and arrest reported by participating law enforcement agencies. BJS supports the archiving of these files through NACJD to facilitate access to the data by researchers, academics, students, and the public.
The following datasets are now available:
- arrests by age, sex, and race for 2024
- arrests by age, sex, and race, summarized yearly, for 2024
- arson for 2024
- hate crimes for 2024
- offenses known and clearances by arrest for 2024
- police employees and law enforcement officers killed or assaulted (LEOKA) for 2024
- property stolen and recovered for 2024
- Supplementary Homicide Reports for 2024.
BJS Publishes Comprehensive NCVS Instrument Redesign Field Test Data Through NACJD
BJS released datasets from the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) Instrument Redesign Field Test through the National Archive of Criminal Justice Data. BJS recently completed a multiyear effort to improve the efficiency, reliability, and utility of the NCVS, including redesigning the entire survey instrument. The new instrument was examined and tested in the NCVS Instrument Redesign Field Test. These studies include data from this large-scale national field test and are designed to support research and development efforts.

BJS Webinar on NIBRS Extract Files and LEARCAT
On July 22, 2026, BJS statisticians presented an in-depth presentation on "How to use the the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) Extracts and BJS LEARCAT to Answer your Questions about Crime." NIBRS is the national standard for law enforcement crime data reporting in the United States. It collects detailed data on the characteristics of criminal incidents, offenses, victims, and arrestees, and can provide valuable insight into our understanding of crime and public safety.
The sheer volume of crime incidents reported to police each year, coupled with the complex hierarchical structure of incident-based crime data, poses unique challenges for researchers and nontechnical data users seeking timely answers to real-world questions about crime. BJS developed a suite of resources designed to broaden access to NIBRS and reduce the technical expertise and resources required to analyze “big” crime data.
