BJS FY24 Continuation of the Federal Justice Statistics Program

The Federal Justice Statistics Program (FJSP) compiles statistical information on defendants processed across various stages of the federal criminal justice system. The successful applicant will be responsible for receiving data files from seven federal agencies beginning with fiscal year 2024 and converting the data received to the Standard Analysis File (SAF) format using SAS statistical software code. The statistical programs will be updated each year to address changes to the agency data files. New offense codes and variables will be added, and personal identifying information removed from the files prior to archiving. Additional tasks will include providing technical assistance to BJS and others who use FJSP data and updating and expanding the BJS federal online query tool. The recipient will prepare and submit public use data files and codebooks to the National Archive of Criminal Justice Data (NACJD) and process and submit to BJS all relevant data, computer code, and documentation used to create the SAFs, dyad link files, BJS online query tool, and files submitted to NACJD.
