Description
The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) is seeking proposals for assistance in the development and implementation of the 2010-2011 Arrest-Related Deaths (ARD) Program. In addition, BJS is seeking assistance in the development of alternative designs for the 2012 ARD Program. The recipient of funds will assist BJS in transitioning toward a more uniform, nationwide collection of statistical information on the prevalence and characteristics of arrest-related deaths. BJS is dedicated to collecting information on issues relevant to the criminal justice community. In an effort to enhance our statistical products, BJS held a meeting on May 13, 2010 to assess the current state and future direction of the Arrest-Related Deaths (ARD) data collection program. The purpose of the meeting was to solicit feedback from researchers, state reporting agents, law enforcement officials, and members of the medical community in order to improve the ARD data collection instrument and the overall utility and quality of the data. The agenda and transcript are now available.
