The State Justice Statistics (SJS) Program is designed to maintain and enhance each State's capacity to address criminal justice issues through collection and analysis of data. The SJS Program provides support to each State to coordinate and conduct statistical activities within the State, conduct research to estimate impacts of legislative and policy changes, and serve as a liaison in assisting BJS to gather data from respondent agencies within their States.

Under this award, the Tennessee Statistical Analysis Center (SAC) will (1) expand the amount and format of data available on the Tennessee Crime On-Line Website, including data to examine violent crimes occurring in schools; (2) establish 'fail over' systems for both TNCrimeonline and TIBRS for continuity of operations purposes; and, (3) conduct research using criminal history records to examine recidivism rates of offenders and the amount of time occurring between each arrest.
