Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2008, $49,984)
The State Justice Statistics (SJS) Program is designed to maintain and enhance each State's capacity to address criminal justice issues through collection and analysis of data. The SJS Program provides support to each State to coordinate and conduct statistical activities within the State, conduct research to estimate impacts of legislative and policy changes, and serve as a liaison in assisting BJS to gather data from respondent agencies within their States.
Under this award the Pennsylvania Statistical Analysis Center (SAC) will continue development of databases that can be accessed through the SAC's parent agency website. The current website mostly contains static spreadsheets and tables that require frequent updates and present limited views of the available data. The SAC plans to present these data in a more interactive format, both spreadsheet and graphical display, that will allow users to choose specific parameters including year, type of crime, locality, etc. Users will be able to manipulate data and observe trends visually.
