Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2007, $50,000)

The State Justice Statistics (SJS) Program is designed to maintain and enhance each State's capacity to address criminal justice issues through the collection and analysis of data. The SJS Program provides support to each State to coordinate and conduct statistical activities within the State, conduct research to estimate impacts of legislative and policy changes, and serve as a liaison in assisting BJS to gather data from respondent agencies within their States.

Under this award, the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI), in collaboration with the Indiana Supreme Court's Judicial Technology and Automation Committee (JTAC) and the Division of State Court Administration, will complete Phase III of its Indiana Courts Online Reports (ICOR) project. This phase involves launching the public website and developing the reports module of the website. The module will allow local, state, and Federal agencies, non-profit and educational organizations, and the public to access statistics from Indiana courts. Users will be able to compare data sets, download raw data in a variety of formats, and create statistical and performance measurement reports to assess the impact of criminal justice programs in the State. The website will also be used by the Indiana Supreme Court and the Indiana General Assembly to create reports for making policy decisions.
