Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $702,547)
The Arizona Criminal Justice Commission (AZCJC) will use funds towards the following projects: 1) NICS Task Force planning and oversight – funds will be used to support a Business Analyst and System Analyst for 24 months to continue with the progress in achieving project goals by the Arizona NICS Task Force and Arizona NICS Records Improvement Plan. The BA will work more directly with the Task Force and the SA will focus on continuing with coordinating and guiding system developments to standardize and automate systems for the courts and DPS; 2) NICS Record Improvement Plan activities – funds will be used to support AZCJC staff administrative, program and financial management activities for 24 months. Activities include administrative expenses include personnel and office resources to set up, maintain and process program and individual project files, project monitoring activities, progress reporting, and ensuring proper compliance with all mandates and restrictions applicable to the NICS NARIP program. Staff spends a considerable amount of time conferring with sub-grantee agencies and other stakeholders. Technical assistance and consultation occur from the pre-application period through individual subrecipient closeout; 3) Fingerprint Device Purchase – funds will be used through a subaward with the Arizona Supreme Court to purchase 60 fingerprint devices for the courts over a 2-Year period. The project will ensure records are reported from the courts to state systems in a more timely and efficient manner; 4) Maricopa County Justice Court Livescan Purchase – funds will be used to purchase seven mobile Livescans for the courts to replace outdated process. The project will improve the timeliness of reporting court information to the state record systems.
