Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2023, $2,678,166)
Under this award, the Indiana Supreme Court requests funds for two projects: (1) update and replace the current interface between the prosecutor case management system and the court’s case management system and incorporate it into a new e-filing system developed internally by Court Technology; and (2) purchase much needed livescan fingerprint machines for law enforcement agencies who currently do not have the funds to replace failing machines. The first project will allow all prosecutors and the court clerks in all 92 counties to use a single e-filing system and the new system will ensure that all the necessary data is sent electronically to the courts, and in turn, the criminal history repository at the Indiana State Police (ISP). These projects are both critical to improving the number of records that are successfully sent to ISP’s criminal history repository dubbed ‘CHRIS’. The number of messages to CHRIS that error out should decrease significantly. The second project will benefit local county jails where fingerprinting machines are failing but the county lacks the funding to replace them.
