BJS FY24 Statistical Support Program

The Statistical Support Program for the Bureau of Justice Statistics supports statistical and methodological research to develop new collections and develop methods to modernize and restore existing or inactive data collections, and to aid BJS in special statistical analyses. The Criminal Justice Statistics Program (CJSP) includes nearly 50 separate statistical data collections on policing, prosecution, courts, institutional corrections, community supervision, and victimization. The SSP expands the capacity to collect, analyze, and report CJSP data, increasing the breadth of substantive issues which BJS can examine. The SSP focuses on (a) developmental efforts to fill gaps in current data collections to inform policymakers and the public; (b) identifying and testing methods to modernize and restore discontinued BJS data collections; and (c) assisting BJS with special analyses that address emerging issues.
