Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $3,664,255)
The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) plans to subgrant funds to the New York State Department of Health/Health Research Incorporated to develop a secure data quality management portal. The portal will be used to perform the following tasks: 1) monitor data quality, identify the root causes of data issues and work collaboratively with facilities such as, NYS Office of Mental Health and DCJS to resolve them; 2) enhance NICS reporting platform to collect, update, and store NICS data from hospitals more efficiently and ensure compliance with federal and state security policies and standards; 3) improve support for the automation of NICS reporting from hospitals to greatly increase speed of reporting, improve efficiency and data quality, decrease long-term costs, and reduce burden of manual reporting for hospitals; 4) continue to perform audit and compliance activities; 5) continue to serve as a point of contact for FBI NICS outreach; and 6) provide training and end-user support to the hospitals so that they may have continuity in and understand their responsibility for NICS reporting activities.
