Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2022, $701,308)

Through the efforts of DELJIS and our partners, the State of Delaware has one of the nation’s only completely centralized and integrated Criminal Justice Information Systems tracking cases from their first call to the police through the adjudication of the case in the courts to possibly incarceration.  DELJIS integrates with countless Federal, State and Local governmental bodies and several non-governmental partners. Together, Delaware’s law enforcement community sets a standard that is tops in the nation.  The DELJIS engineering team developed and implemented a statewide application known as LEISS (Law Enforcement Investigation Support System).  Using the LEISS application, law enforcement can capture all details of a criminal incident and the data is electronically stored in a centralized database. LEISS is the heart of all crime reporting done in the State of Delaware. While the LEISS application is a flagship program used within the State of Delaware by thousands of certified police officers, the application has become dated and stale over time. Funds are requested to upgrade and enhance the systems and applications to the latest technology.
