This panel will present information on hate crimes from sources across the criminal justice system. Data from BJS’s Federal Justice Statistics Program will be used to describe criminal prosecutions over federal hate crimes. Findings from the National Crime Victimization Survey and the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting Hate Crime Statistics Program (HCSP) on hate crime incidents and victims will be discussed. Testing efforts to enhance and refine the NCVS hate crime items will also be presented, including qualitative data collected from an online survey platform on apparent patterns in hate crime in 2020.
Live captioning will be available.
