This webinar, hosted by BJS and FBI staff, discusses the work these agencies have done to establish methods for estimating reported crime based on data submitted to the FBI’s National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS). The panelists discuss accomplishments to date; efforts to evaluate the quality and completeness of NIBRS data; implications of data quality and coverage for estimating crime at the national, state, and regional levels; and key indicators to be estimated through the new system.
