It includes general information about the NCVS, how households are selected, how data are collected, and the importance of the NCVS.  There are separate videos for youth participants, and both are available in English and Spanish.

In this video, BJS Statistician Susannah Tapp, PhD, describes item nonresponse in the NCVS. Item nonresponse results in missing data. She discusses the four missing data codes used in the NCVS: residue, out of universe, item invalid until, and item invalid after. In this video, BJS Statistician Susannah Tapp, PhD, looks at person and household noninterviews in the NCVS. Household noninterviews occur when no one from a selected household participates in the NCVS. There are three types of household noninterviews – Type A, Type B, and Type C.
